New Poetry by Ken Kakareka

For You

You say
I don’t
write about
you
enough.
Your beautiful,
burgundy
birthmarks
shaped like clouds
floating
on your arm.
Or your silky,
black hair
that dances
and shakes
like Shakira.
Or your smooth,
caramel-colored
skin
and decadent,
hazelnut eyes
that twirl
like a creamy
cup of coffee.
Or your
drum-beating
heart
that rattles
my soul
like an earthquake
out of its body
laid bare
on this page
for you.

Love this so much. The attention to detail. What we notice in the one we love ... Well done.
