New Poetry by William G. Davies Jnr.

Comfort And Aid

After having been
Speared, jabbed
And splintered
Through a pine tree,
The sunlight
Steadies on the books
Who treat
The wounded light
Like so many nurses
Responding to
An emergency.

Mrs. Dalton's Science Class

The pond
Like a potion
Spilt by a
Runner-up in
A science fair
Spreads to
The tall grass.
The greasepaint
Of a Petri dish
And a convalescing moon
Darkened the water.
At dawn,
Pirouettes of mist
Gather into perfection
Their nimbus musings.
All the while
A boy dejected.
