Wald-Hexen (Forest Witches)
(after the painting by Paul
Klee)
There are more of us hidden
among the tress and undergrowth
invisible in wood itself
than
minds can sense
than amulets can counteract
our spells and runes
our sorcery in the veins of
leaves
we conjure wraith and shade
brew cauldrons-full of heresies
we summon, you comply
becoming one with us
in the forest of your doubts.
